Whilst we’re awaiting the lockdown measures to lift, many of us are using this opportunity to refresh our homes, ready to invite guests into our interior spaces this summer.

As well as buying a new sofa, updating your furnishings and accessories and kitting out the garden with outdoor furniture, sometimes, a simple lick of paint can be all it takes to transform your space. But while painting can seem a chore, some of us have been bitten by the DIY bug.

So leading paint brand Dulux has carefully curated a new collection named Simply Refresh, designed to get the job done quickly and effectively.

Excitingly, the low VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) paints are available in One Coat and Feature Wall – two carefully curated colour collections for both neutral and bold palettes to suit any and all decorating tasks:

  • One Coat is available in 30 modern classics and neutrals. Options include: Warm Pewter, Chic Shadow, Goose Down, Polished Pebble, Sapphire Salute and the 2020 Colour of the Year Tranquil Dawn.
  • Feature Wall is available in 15 striking and trend led shades. These include: Teal Tension, Urban Obsession, Indigo Shade, Cannon Ball and Emerald Glade.

And how does it work? Put simply, the extra thick formulation and texture provides extra coverage with a uniform finish.

We spoke to Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director of Dulux, to find out more about the inspiration behind the launch.

She said: “As a nation, we’ve fallen in love with DIY and the pleasure and satisfaction that come from a job well done in the home.

“Homeowners and renters alike are planning exciting projects of all types from entire room makeovers, to feature walls and upcycling furniture. We are demanding so much of our homes and that each room looks and feels just right.

The creative director then went on to discuss the observations that Dulux have made surrounding how we as consumers have used our spaces in the past year.

She said: “As our homes become more multifunctional – they now need to be gyms, offices, and places to relax in – the individuality of each room and its design have become much more pronounced.

“This can make the thought of giving a fresh lick of paint to a whole house or flat daunting and overwhelming, which it shouldn’t be.

“That’s why we’ve launched Simply Refresh, to let a beautiful new look be achieved quickly and easily. These trend-led colours have the power to make rooms feel completely different and give you much more time to get on with enjoying your new makeover instead!”
