Dulux Colour of the Year: 8 ways to incorporate Tranquil Dawn into your home
Dulux has revealed its Colour of the Year for 2020 as Tranquil Dawn and we’ve got a few ideas on how to use it in your home.
The colour Tranquil Dawn was selected by an expert panel of colour designers, trend forecasters, design specialists, architects and editors from around the world.
Its four supporting trend palettes capture the essence of being human and show how the soft, calm hue can be used to create spaces that enhance what we need and want in the year ahead: to seek meaning, to care, to play, and to encourage creativity.
“A new decade heralds a new dawn and the hazy pale green tones of Tranquil Dawn™ are calming and comforting just when we need it most in our lives. When paired with neutral pastels and rich jewels it becomes incredibly powerful at creating spaces that encourage making better human connections.” says Creative Director, Dulux UK, Marianne Shillingford.
We take a look at some of the ways you can incorporate this colour into your home:
The Cuisinart Signature Traditional Kettle is a true classic. Beautifully styled, its smooth curves are complemented by a stainless steel finish and high shine polished details.
The extra-large water window adds to the sophisticated look of this kettle and makes it nice and easy to view the fill level so you only boil the amount of water you need each time. It’s well balanced, easy to refill and pours without drips and spills.

Part of Neptune’s classically English Chichester collection, this side table combines a timeless silhouette with understated carved details, and a mix of painted and oak surfaces. It also comes in three versatile sizes.
Made from Tulipwood, the durable hardwood has a fine, almost knot-free grain, creating a smooth surface for painting. This, combined with oak, which contains knots and natural colour variations, adds instant character to wherever you choose to place it in the home.
For durability, the tabletop is protected with an IsoGuard derived from linseed but doesn’t mask the natural beauty of the timber.

Bring an icon into your home, with The Sixty Seven Sofa. In collaboration with Hemingway Design, John Lewis and partners have created G Plan Vintage, a stunning range of furniture inspired by classic furniture from the ’50s and ’60s.
Named after the year of the original model that influenced the current designs, they blend timeless details with a contemporary approach. The contoured arms and turned wooden feet complement each other to make it as distinctive as it is comfortable.
