If you’re toying with the idea of bringing more orange tones into your home but don’t want to overdo it, adding the odd cushion or two is a great place to start. Whether you choose to opt for orange soft furnishings, accessories or artwork – choose items that can be easily replaced if you happen to go off the idea.

Get creative with your walls and begin shopping around for a statement orange wallpaper. Of course, you don’t have to wallpaper the whole room, a feature wall will make just as much of a statement. This Painted Dot Vintage wallpaper (£12 per roll) is a great example of a print that isn’ too loud and won’t overwhelm a space.

There is no denying that orange is a bright colour, we suggest that if this isn’t for you, to tone it down to a sumptious terracotta shade. These burnt orange and rusty hues are so on-trend right now and are popping up all over the high street. We’re talking ceramic vases, plant stands and boho-style pouffes. This trend pays homage to Moroccan influences and is the perfect way to warm up your home for Autumn.

Switch up your paint scheme

Go big or go home! For those that feel passionate that orange is the colour for them, it’s time to get the paintbrushes out. Take inspiration from this bold look created by Annie Sloan, featuring three different warm paint colours. If you’d rather not commit to painting an entire wall, upcycling furniture is a creative and affordable alternative. Or, for a pop of orange why not paint your radiator and make your living room totally Instagrammable?

If you’re going to invest in a stand out piece such as a chair or even a sofa we would definitely recommend a velvet option for autumn. Create a contrast

Have faith in your decorating abilities and go for a bold contrasting scheme. When putting together contrasting looks, your first port of call should be the colour wheel. In terms of the colour orange, it sits opposite blue, which means that they are a match made in heaven when creating a colour clash. This might sound scary however it’s easy enough to tone it down by choosing muted shades and keeping the backdrop neutral, just like this look from Habitat.
