Whilst we wait for government lockdown measures to be lifted, many of us have been experimenting with the latest food and drink trends taking social media by storm. But whilst our routine reservations are put on hold for the time being, many food outlets are getting innovative with their offerings, bringing their signature dishes to our doorsteps. So if you’ve tried and failed to replicate your restaurant favourites, these ‘finish-at-home’ meal kits provide a gourmet experience for mum, or mother-like figure, this Mothering Sunday.
Shuk has created a one-off Mother’s Day brunch kit with delicious egg based Shakshuka and toasted plaited Challah bread, followed by an afternoon of chocolate and hazelnut Babka baking! With enough to feed four, the brunch can be easily prepared by warming the Shakshuka sauce and gently dropping the Cacklebean eggs in to poach. Then simply toast a couple of slices of bread and serve. The rest of the afternoon can be a family activity, preparing and baking the babka. Simply roll, assemble and bake. Bag your Mother’s Day brunch by Tuesday 9th March, 12pm.
After the huge success of their Valentine’s Day virtual masterclass, the trendy pizza parlour is back and ready to impress! The Mother’s Day DIY kit will include two pizzas, two ‘Mummy’s Little Helper’ cocktails (featuring Prosecco, orange and Cointreau) as well as two homemade Belgian chocolate brownies made by Suga Bakes. Say thanks, Mum, even if you can’t be with her this year. And if you can, good news for Mum: Pop the cork on the scrumptious, yet delicate St. John’s Crémant and pour her a glass, while you cook her a Sunday roast to remember. When you’ve had your fill of lamb with gratin dauphinoise or chicken with cauliflower cheese tuck into warm Humble Crumbles with a great big spoon of silky custard. Order in for a weekend together or send it to her as a surprise. This box serves up to 4.

Then there’s slow-braised neck of lamb, minted gnocchi, Jerusalem artichoke and juniper sauce, followed by an indulgent dessert: chocolate nemesis, creme fraiche and caramelised orange.
