With the pandemic still in full force, it’s still unclear how Christmas will look this year.  One thing’s for sure, gift-giving will look a whole lot different this festive season.

If 2020 has given us anything, it’s a whole new realm of gifts that back in 2019, wouldn’t have made much sense.

We’ve picked a few of our favourite present ideas that are perfect for Christmas 2020.

Self care

A lot has happened this year – and the majority of it hasn’t been positive. If there’s ever been a year to promote some self care to your friends and family, this is it. Opt for gifts that offer up a little ‘me-time’, designed to relax and bring calm vibes.

Presents by post

While the Christmas Day situation remains unclear at present, there’s still an unfortunate chance that households won’t be able to mingle for Christmas 2020. Presents by post mean no long queues at the post office if you can’t make the journey to family this year, and there are so many great ideas out there to choose from.

One we’ve loved this year is based on the idea that staying in is the new going out. These by-post cocktail gifts from Kocktail are perfect for those people in your life who are missing a good night out on the tiles right now.

2020 is proving tough for a lot of people, especially in regards to their jobs. It may be that family and friends will need to tighten their belts this year – if that’s the case, expect to have to buy on a more restricted budget than in previous years to keep the festive spirit alive without breaking the bank.

Something like this moon planter is a super cute idea, but costs only £8 from HomeLuxeCo on Etsy.

Virtual experiences

Experience days are, usually, a brilliant gift idea. In 2020, many are still offering physical experiences, which can be redeemed when lockdown is over, however, these businesses are also diversifying into offering online experiences too. Everything thing from cooking to candle-making can now be taken over Zoom, and they often prove to be more budget friendly that real-life experience days. Try Virgin Experience Days, Buy a Gift or Red Letter Days for ideas.

When the Black Lives Matter movement gained global attention in the earlier part of 2020, there was a huge push to support Black-owned businesses, especially those who may be struggling during the pandemic. Now, sites such as Etsy have made in easy to do so, curating special gift lists from Black-owned businesses for you to shop from for your Christmas gifts.

The world can only take so many Zoom quizzes, so why not treat you and your loved ones to something else you could do together virtually. We love the idea of these Sculpd kits, which give you everything you need to get creative with clay. Buy one for you and one for your friend or family member, and you can have a pottery party over Zoom one night.

Mask up!

Back at the beginning of the pandemic, no one knew how long we’d be wearing face masks for, but it’s clear to see they’re not going anywhere any time soon. As they need to be washed after use, you can never really have enough face masks, so they make perfect gifts for Christmas – replacing socks as the new stocking filler go-to! Pick one to suit their personality – this leopard print one from Audenza is perfect for someone who loves a bold interior.

You could also take another route and invest in some maskne (thats mask + acne) preventing skin care, to help those who are suffering with mask-induced breakouts during this time.
