After Dulux announced a dark taupe colour Brave Ground as its Colour of the Year recently, it should come as less of a shock to see another warm brown hue declared a big trend for 2021.

Topps Tiles has predicted its Zellica Bronze tile will set the tone for the next year – creating an atmosphere of comfort and stability within our homes in spite of whatever may be happening in the world outside.

Topps has teamed up with Dulux to create some perfectly styled roomsets using both its Zellica Bronze tile and the paint brand’s Brave Ground colour.

With its Zellica tiles, Topps wanted to recreate that artisanal, handcrafted aesthetic that brings a rustic style to the space. Using modern technology, they’ve created a tile that has the colour variation and irregular edges of handcrafted tiles, but with a price that reflects a more streamlined production than the real thing.

Topps Tiles’ style consultant, Harriet Goodacre, has offered some ideas for styling the tile a kitchen or bathroom space.

Glossy metro tiles, she says, are perfect for a scheme that hints to Art Deco – team with Carrara marble and brass finishings to capture the 1920s trend.

This colour is also perfect for a warm, modern Scandi look, Harriet says. “Sticking to a neutral colour palette can create a harmonious feel in a room with minimal effort, however, it’s important when using a simple scheme to add elements of interest, whether it be a creative tile laying pattern or a favourite piece of art.”

For those who love the tile, but aren’t convinced by the colour, Zellica is available in a further 5 colourways, including Forest (green), Liquorice (blank) and Ink (blue).
