Dulux Colour of the Year 2022 revealed

The Dulux Colour of the Year 2022 is Bright Skies. This airy, light blue is set to help capture a hopeful mood as all signs point to new beginnings and a breath of fresh air.

For the 19th year in a row, Dulux assembled the leaders in design, fashion, colour and the built environment to consider the trends and innovations that impact how we all live and work. As this has been an unusual year to say the least, the group had to gather online for the first ever virtual summit.

‘Right now, people want to feel revitalised and enjoy the freedoms that are returning to them, to look out and bring in new ideas,’ says Marianne Shillingford, Dulux UK’s creative director. ‘What better inspiration can we take than the endless skies around us? It is widely known that nature makes us feel better and taking steps to bring the outside in enhances our sense of wellbeing.

‘So whether we are working or relaxing, creating or exercising, it is essential to have a space that reflects the optimism and desire for a fresh, new start that is top of the agenda for the year ahead.’

It’s designed to create a subtle and inspiring sanctuary, away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The tones complement each other beautifully, and will immediately set your mind at ease and boost your wellbeing. Bringing in shades of grey and mauve, this palette uses varying pastel hues to relax your soul.

The workshop palette

The final palette allows people to create adaptable spaces that will refresh their home. From zoning a multi-purpose space in a studio flat, to decorating a home office, the tones in this palette make functional spaces fun. Never again will you feel the drain of working at home eating into your own space, as you can create an area that will brighten your mood, ready for a productive day. Combining the warmth of deep yellows and pale pinks, this motivating palette complements Bright Skies beautifully.
