Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl has dropped – 11 ways to channel the glamorous look in your interiors

With the much-anticipated release of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, Taylor Swift mania has been taking over once more.

But it isn’t just her music-making prowess that has people in a tizz.

From the softly-lit, book-filled corners seen in her Folklore era to the opulent vintage touches of her New York apartment, Swift’s evolving aesthetic is inspiring a whole new direction in interiors.

Romantic, layered and always personal, her style speaks to a generation of Swifties looking to create homes that feel meaningful and full of character.

“Taylor Swift’s influence goes far beyond music-she’s become a cultural icon whose style, storytelling and aesthetic resonate deeply with fans,” explains Victoria Robinson, style and trend expert at Hillarys.

“Whether it’s the whimsical charm of Folklore, the glittering glamour of Midnights, or the theatrical elegance of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, each era offers a distinct visual language that people want to bring into their homes.”

Victoria says harnessing the Swiftie aesthetic is about creating spaces that feel personal, expressive and a little bit magical-just like Taylor herself.

“We’re entering an era where interiors are getting braver and bolder, and Taylor Swift’s new album is the perfect spark,” she adds.

So what does the Taylor Swift look really mean when it comes to décor, and how can you bring a touch of her world into yours?

We’ve spoken to the interior design experts to find out exactly how to bring some showgirl magic into your home, from colour palettes and key pieces to that all-important sense of storytelling woven through every room.

Carefully introduce orange hues

In anticipation of her upcoming album, Taylor Swift has been seen sporting a striking shade of orange, foreshadowing her next ‘era’ and embodying her confident and warm personality.

“Although many homeowners may be reluctant to redecorate their entire living space in such a bold colour, we can still draw inspiration,” advises Melissa Denham, interior design expert at Hammonds Furniture.

“Think about layering notes of orange as a punchy accent colour to add vibrancy without overpowering your living space.”

Melissa says you can also incorporate orange hues into your home through statement furniture, or through a variety of soft furnishings like cushions or throws with orange tones or accents.

Paired with fresh mint green Portofino orange is a high-energy palette that can completely transform a room.

“Use this vibrant duo to energise your space, whether through painted feature walls, upholstery, or accessories,” Victoria recommends.

Incorporate ‘showgirl’ interiors

Similar to her constantly evolving ‘eras’ throughout her music career and personal life, Melissa says Swift’s latest aesthetic is heavily inspired by showgirl performance and is all about making a statement, embracing maximalism and glamour in the process.

“To channel this aesthetic in your home, think about hanging statement lighting, like chandeliers or a pendant light that creates a focal point for a room,” she says.

“Metallic accents such as silver or brass, which when used in small doses, can add a touch of sophisticated luxury to any living space.”

To go even bolder and encapsulate the true showgirl aesthetic, Melissa recommends incorporating with layered maximalist accessories – cushions with large tassel details, oversized wall art adorned with feathers for a touch of glam, or a rhinestone coffee table to add a dash of sparkle.

“If you’re looking for a more subtle touch, you can introduce smaller design elements such as atmospheric lampshades or layering luxurious textures such as velvet and faux fur throughout, which adds a layer of glamour without overwhelming a space,” she adds.

Light it up

Who doesn’t love a scented candle to switch up the feel of a room? Melissa says candles in the home are more than just a fragrance, they provide atmosphere and create a mood.

Taylor previously told Vogue her favourite fragrance is a Byredo candle called Tree House, which has a sleek and minimalist design and has notes of cedar, bamboo and sandalwood.

“Consider choosing rich and complex fragrances that include woody or smoky notes, both of which will add a warm layer to your room,” Melissa continues.

Instead of sticking to one scent, she recommends creating different moods in every room through scentscaping, allowing for a sensory journey throughout the home and creating a different personality to each room.

“For example, the kitchen may embody a fresh citrus experience, the living room an escape to the woods, and the bedroom a calming floral oasis,” Melissa continues.

Find a balance between vintage and modern

Blending vintage charm with modern touches is at the heart of Taylor Swift-inspired interiors thanks to the singer’s love of a rummage in a good antique shop, as mentioned in the diary pages she shared as part of her Lover album packaging in 2019.

“I really like the ones where there’s so much crap to dig through, you can find absolute treasures for nothing,” she explained.

“When pairing vintage and modern elements together you should always look to start with modern foundations, such as a contemporary sofa, or a neutral coloured wall and then think about adding vintage accents with furniture, décor and soft furnishings,” Melissa advises.

This, she says, could be something as simple as a thrifted antique mirror, a worn in Persian rug, or a small mid-century modern side table.

“When introducing textures, pay particular attention to soft and warm materials that pair well with the robust yet sleek materials of modern design, such as a velvet throw across a modern, angular chair,” she adds.

“Consider the 80/20 rule, which focuses 80% of the living space being made up of modern pieces, combined with 20% vintage accents.

“This will ensure the space feels balanced while having a touch of character and history.”

Add in colour pops

You only have to look at Taylor Swift’s colour pop kitchen as seen in the Netflix documentary Miss Americana to know the singer doesn’t shy away from bold hues in her own home décor.

“Adding a pop of colour to your home is an easy way to bring personality and energy to a space,” Melissa explains.

“It’s a great opportunity to add colourful statement pieces that capture attention, like a vibrant luxury sofa, a bold maximalist rug or a striking pendant light.”

If you’re interested in applying Taylor-esque bold paint to your home Melissa suggests painting an accent wall.

“Make sure to follow the 60-30-10 rule, where 60% of the room should be the main colour, 30% should be a secondary colour, and the final 10% should be an accent colour,” she recommends.

“Accent walls can allow to you create focal points that elevate a space, adding more depth to a room.”

If colourful paint isn’t your thing, you can still implement a pop of colour by introducing colourful artwork, patterned decorative vases, or small decorative accessories to add playful bursts of colour throughout a space.

Alternatively Melissa suggests pairing soft pastels with deeper moodier tones to balance whimsy and sophistication.

“These touches will make a space feel energetic and characterful, which is reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s storytelling within her music.”

Embrace the beauty of books

It’s no secret that Taylor has a passion for books, with literature being a huge source of inspiration for her songwriting.

“A home with a quiet and uninterrupted space is essential for getting lost in a good book,” Melissa explains.

“Consider installing a window seat to create the perfect perch for a solo reading spot.

“Window seats permit lots of natural light and a view of the outdoors, which are perfect accompaniments for a therapeutic reading session.”

Melissa also recommends styling your bookshelves to add personality to your room, by layering in smaller decorative pieces or vintage ornaments.

“You could also try arranging your books on shelves according to their colour to create an eye-catching visual display,” she adds.

Statement seating

Adding statement seating is a simple yet striking way to tap into the Life of a Showgirl look.

Lean towards bold, glamorous pieces that bring a sense of stage-worthy style to your space.

“Opt for sculptural armchairs in velvet or boucle, ideally in rich jewel tones or the signature orange,” suggests Victoria.

“These pieces anchor the room and add instant drama.”

Metallic accents

The Life of a Showgirl explores the contrast between showbiz sparkle and the quieter moments behind the curtain.

Using metallic accents in the home capture a little of that on-stage magic, adding a hint of shimmer that brings a little razzle dazzle into everyday spaces.

“Incorporate gold, chrome or brass through side tables, lighting fixtures and decorative objects,” Victoria recommends. “They reflect light and add a glamorous edge.”

Using large, ornate mirrors will bounce light and create a sense of space.

“Bonus points for frames with a vintage or baroque feel,” Victoria adds.

Playful detailing

Fringing and tasselling, which are both having a moment, offer a fun nod to the Life of a Showgirl aesthetic, echoing the movement and drama of stage costumes, while bringing a touch of theatrical charm and texture into your home.

“Lampshades, cushions and curtain tiebacks with fringe or tassels nod to vintage showgirl glamour while adding texture and movement,” Victoria explains.

Go bold

Our Taylor is no wallflower so it pays to be brave with pattern and colour.

“For me, a touch of theatre at home means those moments of drama and personality,” explains Victoria.

“Bold wallpapers, luxe curtains that frame a room like a stage, oversized mirrors that play with light, and decorative details that feel just a little extravagant.”

Victoria says it’s about turning everyday spaces into something joyful, confident, and impossible to forget.

“Oversized florals, art deco patterns or theatrical motifs create a wallpapered backdrop that feels like a stage set, perfect for maximalist expression,” she continues.

“Floor-length, heavy velvet curtains help frame the room and add a sense of occasion.

“Think rich colours and dramatic folds.”

Add in personal touches

Are you even a Swiftie if you’re not buying the merch? Victoria suggests adding in subtle nods like the number 13, framed lyrics or album-themed artwork.

“These small details make the space feel uniquely yours while also celebrating your fandom,” she adds.
