From Messy Coquette to Maritime living: Etsy’s predictions for this summer’s 6 hottest interior trends
If your interiors are feeling a little tired, it could be time to turn to the trend predictors for some inspiration.
With their eyes firmly fixed on search data, cultural shifts, and that ineffable sense of ‘what’s next?’, Etsy’s trend forecasters have dusted off the interior crystal ball to reveal the styles that will be setting the tone for our spaces this summer and beyond.
While both minimalism and maximalism have had their moments recently (Hello Lagom and Groovy interiors), according to Dayna Isom Johnson, Etsy’s resident trend guru, this season it’s ‘midimalism’ that’s about to take over.
“This season is all about embracing creativity in an intentional and personal way,” she explains.

But what exactly is midimalism?
Designed for real life (ie not just Pinterest boards), midimalism champions spaces that feel lived-in but still intentional – where sculptural objects share shelves with sentimental bits, and ‘calm’ doesn’t mean characterless. It’s style without the stress.
Just the right blend of minimalism and maximalism, the trend encourages beautifully balanced interiors, where clean lines meet characterful touches.
It’s thoughtful, it’s achievable, and (thankfully) it doesn’t require you to part ways with your favourite quirky finds or grandma’s much-loved vase.
But midimalism is just the beginning.
From the lived-in charm of Literary Girl interiors – think antique book stacks, moody lighting, and writing desks with stories of their own, to the curated chaos of Messy Coquette (bows on everything), this season’s trends are as expressive as they are escapist.
Not forgetting the jet-setting calm of Island Luxe, the interstellar shimmer of Galactic Metallic, the rustic romance of Châteaucore, and the rugged refinement of Maritime Living.
So whether you fancy styling your space like a windswept novelist, a coquettish clutter queen, or a modern-day sailor with a flair for design, one thing’s clear: in summer 2025, personality is back – and it’s making our homes look pretty darned fabulous.

Literary girl
London’s literary scene is having a moment – book clubs are booming, blind book dates are trending, and reading is officially the new cool girl hobby.
Etsy reports nearly 20,000 book-related purchases every day, confirming reading isn’t just a pastime, it’s a way of life.
The Literary Girl aesthetic brings this to life at home through curated vintage tomes, cosy armchairs, personal libraries (hello, bookshelf wealth), and charming paraphernalia like personalised embossers and candles evoking the scent of a cosy corner in your favourite library.
To channel your inner bookworm via your interiors Dayna suggests incorporating some vintage book stacks and bookshelf knickknacks.
“Or for a bolder statement, incorporate dark mahogany wood panelling, cosy armchairs, and warm lighting into your living room, to create the perfect reading environment,” she adds.

Messy coquette
A playful evolution of hyper-feminine style, the messy coquette trend blends ’90s and Y2K pop star energy with effortlessly undone charm, inviting you (and your home) to be a little bit extra.
“This season is a celebration of pop princesses, who are dominating the top charts and providing the playlist to our summers,” explains Dayna.
When it comes to our homes the ruffle renaissance is leading the charge with sales for ruffled curtains, blankets, and scatter pillows up double digits.
To bring a little diva chic into your home, Dayna suggests introducing a bit of fun via a hot pink ruffled blankets and some bubble gum-coloured cushions with bows.
“On Etsy we have seen a +500% increase in searches for coquette bows as people look to bedazzle their homes, and channel that main character energy,” she adds.

Island Luxe
With Resortcore dominating the cultural zeitgeist this year, from TV dramas (The White Lotus), to chart toppers, we are seeing a love for island retreats infiltrate home interiors.
“Island Luxe, also known as Resortcore or Tourist-Chic, is all about embracing the calming influence of island life, while making an intentional statement,” explains Dayna.
To bring the holiday energy into your home she suggests adding lush green plants and tropical scented candles to your living room, while placing a statement fruit bowl that looks like it belongs beachside to your kitchen countertop.
“Introducing natural textures like raffia, serve up that sun-kissed glamour with a touch of beachside indulgence,” Dayna adds.
Maria Ramirez from BB Interiors says Island Luxe speaks to our collective craving for calm, nature and easy living.
“In a fast-paced world, people want their homes to feel like a retreat,” she explains.
“This look combines the breezy, barefoot vibe of a beach house with sophisticated, elevated materials.”
The key to getting the trend right in your own home is balancing organic textures like linen, wood and stone with clean lines and soft, sun-bleached tones.
“It instantly makes you feel like you have checked into an exclusive resort, even on a grey Monday morning.”
Maria agrees that natural materials are vital to nail the look.
“A linen slipcovered sofa, timber accents or woven light fixtures can instantly soften a room,” she says.
“Keep the palette light and earthy and resist the urge to overfill the space. Less is more, every piece should feel thoughtfully chosen.”

Galactic Metallic
As space travel and sci-fi appear more within popular culture (Hello Katy Perry’s infamous trip to space), our homes are also adapting to this intergalactic aesthetic.
“This trend is all about shimmering silver and holographic textures, reflective fabrics and rich, deep blue hues that encompass the night sky,” Dayna explains.
According to the trend expert Galactic Metallic is the futuristic evolution of last season’s chrome craze.
To celebrate the galaxy within your home, she suggests swapping out your ordinary lamp shades for half-moon-shaped ones, which have seen a +600% increase in searches across Etsy.
“You can also level up your kitchen with a few touches that are out of this world, such as adding crystal mugs, which are up +700% in searches on Etsy, and can be paired with a navy blue table cloth for the perfect cosmic meal set,” she adds.
If silver accents and space-inspired artwork isn’t your bag, however, consider giving a nod to the look via a moody colour palette.

Châteaucore
While last year was all about the tomato girl, this summer we are seeing a love for all things traditional and romantic, taking inspiration from French countryside charm and vintage chic.
“On Etsy, France cottage decor is one of the top-searched terms this year, up over 26,000%, as people look to channel their own French novel aesthetic within their homes,” Dayna explains.
Maria says there’s a real appetite for romance and escapism in interiors at the moment and Chateaucore taps into that perfectly.
“After years of minimalism, people are craving spaces that feel layered, personal and a little bit indulgent,” she explains.
“It is about creating your own modern-day country estate, whether you live in a manor or a one-bedroom flat.”
Getting the Chateaucore look at home is about mixing antiques, faded florals, ornate details and beautiful craftsmanship.
“It has a sense of lived-in elegance that feels warm rather than staged.
“It’s nostalgic, but not old fashioned,” Maria adds.
To incorporate the trend Maria recommends starting with one or two vintage or antique pieces, like a carved mirror or a small writing desk, to bring a sense of heritage.
“Layer in soft textiles with subtle floral or toile patterns,” she continues.
“If you do not want to commit to wallpaper, try framed vintage botanical prints to bring in the romantic vibe without overwhelming the space.”
Dayna suggests adding in some vintage glassware or ceramic glasses for a quaint, cosy feel.
“Meanwhile, wicker and linen are the perfect materials to bring into your space, and are perfectly paired with intricately embroidered cushions,” she adds.

Maritime Living
Step aside coastal chic, there is a new seaside aesthetic in town and it is all about embracing the raw, untamed spirit of the sea.
“Inspired by the real-deal fishermen and seafarers, Maritime Living is bringing a more rugged edge to classic coastal style,” explains Dayna.
Bring ocean-inspired tranquillity to your interiors with sea glass accents and driftwood sculptures, while incorporating dark rich navies and greens, along with soft whites, for a timeless elegance.
And don’t forget the stripes! “Stripes are a classic staple, easily incorporated into your home with a striped linen throw, or some nautical inspired artwork,” Dayna concludes.
