If there’s one room in the house that needs to be cosy and ooze comfort, it’s the bedroom. Harry Cole, Founder of Loom & Last has put together his practical tips for keeping the warmth in this winter.
Bedding
- We’d recommend investing in French Linen or 100% certified Egyption Cotton percale bed linen as their superior weave has been designed to be breathable, incredibly soft and they have a satisfying weight to them.
- The natural hollow fibres of the linen will insulate you in winter as well as keep you cool in the summer, whereas the percale cotton weave is a better choice for ‘hot sleepers’ or people who don’t want to be too toasty.
- For the cosier winter months, it’s best to have some extra throws handy that you can pull up if there’s an extra shiver in the air. A layer of waffled linen over your sheets will definitely help you keep warm in style this winter.

Insulation

- There’s nothing worse than entering a draughty cold room after a day out in the cold – and a thermally lined pair of curtains or blinds can reduce heat loss by about 15%.
- To keep your bedroom toasty and well insulated, we suggest investing in either a single layer extra thick combi linings or a blackout lining option with the latter providing more thermal insulation.
- Either of those linings paired with a heavier velvet or weighted cotton will shielf the cold from getting in.
