When designing a bathroom one of the first things to consider is what toilet, basin, bath and shower you want to incorporate. A big trend for 2020 are statement basins. They are a smaller design feature but can add a fun twist to any bathroom. Consider opting for a patterned basin or a unique-shaped one.

Pattern clash

If you’re feeling brave, playing with pattern in a bathroom can look exquisite. Wallpapering a bathroom might intitially sound old-fashioned but it’s made a comeback in a big way. Clash patterns in a bathroom by choosing different wallpaper and tiles but keep them in the same colour palette to avoid it looking too busy.

A statement space doesn’t have to be ultra colourful, it can be certain design details that make a bathroom bold and unique. Take inspiration from the scheme above and be consistent with your choice of materials. Covering a bathroom in marble-effect tiles not only looks cohesive and uniformed but definitely makes a style statement.

If you have the space for a stand alone bath, then this is a design statement within itself. Choose a unique design which suits your overall look and don’t forget to accessorise with stylish taps and accessories.
Dark side

Designing a dark bathroom isn’t for everyone but it’s a total myth that dark colours make a space look smaller. Even if you’re working with a smaller area, don’t be afraid to opt for darker features such as black wall and floor coverings. You can always lighten things up by choosing lighter bathroom furniture and accessories.
