Easter is fast approaching, and whether you’re donning a bunny costume or just taking advantage of a four-day-weekend, it’s time to get into the spirit.

In recent years, people have embraced Easter decorating with as much enthusiasm as Christmas decorations – and it’s now commonplace to see wreaths, garlands, and even Easter trees for the festivities.

Up your ante for Easter this year with these cute ideas – you can be as maximalist or minimalist as you like with these stylish ideas…

1. Easter trees

Easter trees are the trend that took us all by surprise during the pandemic, when we had more time on our hands!

Typically quite small and twiggy, the Easter tree is perfect to dangle hanging egg decorations or little bunny ornaments from.

Keep your colour scheme pastel to be in keeping with the season – you can then dress your table or sideboard with them. Add fairy lights for an extra touch of sparkle.

The decorations don’t need to be limited to eggs either – bunnies, flowers and feathers all qualify as Easter decorations.

Paper-cut decs are also a major trend at the moment, as are more pared-back, Scandi-chic wooden options.

2. Easter wreaths

Wreaths have also made the leap form Christmas to Easter. And why not? What better way to mark spring than by bringing the outdoors in?

Whether you choose to create your own DIY wreath or buy a ready-made one, it’s the perfect Easter doorscaping accessory.

For those without the time to create DIY décor, there are plenty of stylish options you can buy ready-made.

However, this year we’re trying our hand at a decorative wreath. Our friends at Lights4fun have all the kit to purchase to create a stunning wreath like this one.

3. Easter mantlescaping

Mantlescaping is another new seasonal decorating concept that has taken hold in recent years.

The idea is to rejig the space above your fireplace depending on the season.

It sounds like hard work but it’s really not, especially with all the cute new goodies on offer.

For Easter this year, Gisela Graham have an amazing selection of goodies to mix and match, and they would work perfectly in tablescapes, too, so they’re a great investment in Easter décor.

4. Easter lighting

We love to add lighting to our decorating schemes, and Easter is no exception to this.

Pimp up your decorations with some stunning seasonal lights for inside the home (and out, if we’re lucky with the British weather).

5. Easter doorscaping

It’s all about the ‘scaping’ these days! Easter doorscaping is a great way to celebrate the change of season.

If you don’t want to go all-out Easter, just keep it spring-like with pretty florals in pastel colours. Otherwise, it’s all about the eggs and bunnies!

Interiors blogger Melanie Lissack is an absolute doorscaping pro.

She created the look below using a range of faux flowers from Dunelm (mostly magnolia, delphinium, mimosa and cherry blossom).

Then she painted some polystyrene eggs in pastel shades from Dunelm’s Decorate & Co-ordinate (Pale Sky and Rose Water).

Once Easter is over, she simply removes the eggs, et voila, it’s a spring doorscape.

6. Paper decorations

As already mentioned, handmade and paper decorations are really having a moment.

This is especially true for spring time and Easter as we get our craft on.

If you don’t have time for DIY decs, don’t worry – there are plenty of paper decorations you can purchase for affordable prices.

We love these options from one of our favourite budget retailers – B&M.

The hanging decorations are great for bringing a touch of Easter fun to your ceiling, whilst maintaining a more minimalist, pastel approach.

The other paper egg decorations are perfect for being part of your mantlescape or tablescape for the weekend.

Even better, you can pack them away afterwards so they can last for many Easters to come.

7. Bunny hopping

These cutie characters are perfect for adding a splash of Easter colour across your home and garden.

They’re colourful without being too gawdy, and will look fab as part of your Easter decorating scheme.

8. Easter napkins

Of course, you don’t need to spend a fortune to decorate for Easter, you can just get creative with napkins.

YouTube has plenty of Easter bunny napkin tutorials, but the Good Homes team favours this one by blogsmia.

All you need are some paper napkins in the colour of your choice and a small piece of thin ribbon.

In 12 folds, you’ll have a bunch of these cute bunny napkins to put a smile on your guests’ faces.
