Benjamin Moore has revealed its Colour of the Year 2020 is First Light. The shade is a beautifully soft, rosy hue that feels super fresh and contemporary. Andrea Magno, Director of Colour Marketing at Benjamin Moore says that ‘the colour symbolises a new dawn of idealism, design and living and that it was chosen to reflect the air of positivity radiated by consumers entering a new decade.’

Pink can no doubt be a difficult colour to incorporate into your home. So, we’ve put together a few styling tips to inspire you.

Winning combination

If you love being bold with colour, pair rosy pinks with bright green shades. This gorgeous combination evokes feelings of calm and a sense of being at one with nature. They also complement each other perfectly.

A great way of injecting the colour green into your home is through real or faux plants, Audenza have some great fauxs but if you’re commited to real ones, visit your local garden centre for the best bargains.

The dark side

Pink bathrooms are a massive trend right now and we totally get why. But, also – pink paired with black and charcoal grey is a striking combination. Don’t be fooled in thinking a dusky pink has to be a soft, feminine shade, it can definitely be amped up with darker hues.

We recommend choosing furniture with black hardware to accompany your pink scheme as well as industrial-style lighting for a more hardened finish.

Metallic accents

If you want to add a touch of glamour to your space, then bringing in metallic accents is a great way of doing so. Rosy hues such as First Light lend themselves well to bright gold finishes. How amazing is this Langdon four-poster bed? It definitely embodies the glamorous schemes we’re imagining.

Choose luxurious fabrics to push your pink look to the next level, such as velvet or satin. A pink velvet sofa is a must-have right now and you can definitely find affordable options on the high street.

Alongside the Colour of the Year, Benjamin Moore also revealed their accompanying 2020 colour palette. The palette shows the versatility of First Light and how you can style it to suit your own personal style. We think that the colour story definitely portrays optimism and the sense of being uplifted, which is teh energy we want to be entering 2020 with.
