How to decorate your hallway for Christmas

When guests enter your home over the festive period, you want to give them a warm welcome, so why not decorate your hallway and spread the Christmas cheer?
If you’ve never literally decked the halls before, here’s our quick guide to make it easy.
Create a festive vignette

Create a welcoming scene on a hallway shelf or console using tabletop decorations. Choose items of varying heights and shapes, and group them together for impact.
Use fresh foliage

Go big with greenery. Fresh foliage and fir looks wonderful and will give the hallway a deliciously festive aroma.

Use the stairs as a focal point by working in a decorative garland or two. Weave through stair banisters or trail along the handrail.
Create a soft lighting scheme

Make your hallway feel cosy and inviting with soft lighting. Work in layers of light – from candles and night lights on a console to hanging lanterns and garlands of fairy lights.
Add statement designs

Add pops of bling to make your hall sparkle. Tie baubles with cheery ribbon and hang from coat hooks, lights or a newel post.
