Chateaucore: the new interiors trend you need to know

Chateaucore is a new interiors trend we’re lusting over.

It’s inspired by historic French country estates, combining the elegance and refined nature of a chateau, with the cosy warmth of a cottage.

Chateaucore is the perfect blend of aristocratic opulence and rustic, countryside comfort.

What is chateaucore?

Chateaucore combines old style romance and elegance with the classic charm of a simplistic cottage.

It’s spreading through the interior design circuit this summer, and is something to consider if you’re doing any decorating.

Think soft colours, gilded accents and rustic furniture – it’s essentially the French countryside dream that is finally taking off.

Escape to the Chateau

It would be wrong to talk about chateaucore, without mentioning the original interior designers that made the romantic French countryside their interior design inspo.

Dick and Angel Strawbridge began their project of creating a stunning Chateaucore property in the South of France back in 2016, but it seems the rest of the interior design sphere has finally caught up!

Going viral

According to Etsy, France cottage decor is now one of the most searched items on their site, increasing by over 26,000%.

On social ‘the Chateau life’ is trending across TikTok and Instagram – it appears that everyone is jumping on the hype of a luxury French countryside retreat.

How can I get the Chateaucore look in my home?

Unfortunately, we don’t all have the budget to pack up and buy a run-down property in the South of France to truly live out the fantasy, but we can bring bits of it into our own homes.

We’ve rounded up some of the best Chateaucore buys on the market right now…

1. Sofa

If you’re going to relax into the chateaucore lifestyle, you need somewhere to lounge like a French artistocrat.

This stylish leather sofa oozes opulence and immediately takes a space to another level.

However, it is still understated enough to look right at home in a cottage set up – exactly what chateaucore is all about.

All you need now to live out your aristocratic French fantasy is someone to feed you grapes and wine while you relax…

5. Black and gold mirror

A chic mirror is a must for any aristocratic abode, and with rustic being a key part of the trend, bonus points if it ticks both boxes!

It’s not too big or too small, with a stunning gold bow adding some character.

Ideal for placing near the front door or main hallway for you to check yourself out before leaving the house.

We love these bee stemmed wine glasses, they’re cute and stylish whilst also giving the opulent effect we’re after.
