With searches for ‘dog-friendly garden plants’ soaring by 324% in the last three months, it seems many of us are struggling to curate beautiful gardens and balance the needs of our pooches.

Emma Passman, veterinary expert at Pure Pet Food has shared five of the best pet-safe plants for your garden this year.
She explains: “Dogs are naturally curious and love to explore our gardens with their noses and mouths.
However, many common plants, including daffodils and foxgloves can be toxic if ingested.
Therefore, it’s important to be informed about those and other plants that could be a risk for your animal friends.”
Pet friendly plants
These plants are perfect for creating a pet-friendly space for your pooch.
1. Marigolds
These are non-toxic as well as being a natural pest repellent so serve as both functional and beautiful in your garden.
These easy-to-grow flowers will thrive in sunny spots and add vibrant colours of orange and yellow to your outdoor area. They also help to deter pests like aphids and whiteflies.
This helps to protect your nearby plants, keep your garden healthier and make it a more pleasant place to relax without needing harsh chemicals.

2. Snapdragons
Looking for plants that will add height to your flowerbed as well as colour?
Snapdragons are perfect for dog-safe borders. This is thanks to their tall, spiky blooms and non toxic nature.
