1. Freestanding tall cabinet

Slim enough to squeeze into small spaces, the Chatsworth Traditional Blue Tall Cabinet, £399.95 from Victorian Plumbing, has both open and closed storage so you can keep a stack of towels within each reach on the cubby hole between the two cupboards. It measures H190 x W35.5 x D45cm and is made from MDF with a lovely satin blue finish and tongue-and-groove side panelling, perfect for a period-style classic bathroom.

3. Mirrored bathroom cabinet

Ikea’s Enhet two-door, two-shelf wall-mounted mirror cabinet, £55, comes in a crisp white finish with a slim depth so it won’t protrude over the basin below. Measuring H75 x W60 x D17cm, the mirrored front eases the morning and night-time routine, whether it’s shaving, cleaning teeth or applying make-up. Bathroom cabinets with a neutral white finish fit in easily with existing décor and colour schemes.

4. Laundry basket cabinet

In a Scandinavian style with or without legs, which allows you to use it as wall-hung or freestanding storage to suit your room, Vitra’s Sento tall unit, £857, comes with a handy pull-out laundry basket in the lower half, ideal as a space-saver in a small bathroom or en suite. Choose from Matt White, Matt Anthracite, Matt Fjord Green or Matt Grey and use the three shelves in the top half for bathroom essentials and toiletries. It measures H157.5 x W30 x D35.5cm.

Two doors open to reveal plenty of shelving space inside while the cut-out shape slots easily around most pedestal basins (pedestal void dimensions are 23.5 x 20.5cm so check it will fit before buying).
