The Good Homes team are delighted to announce that leading supermarket Tesco will be our headline roomset sponsor at the Ideal Home Show, London Olympia, this spring. Our stunning roomsets will preview the opulent fabrics, elegant interiors and the sophisticated and sleek appliances that make up the premium home and kitchenware brands from Tesco.

We caught up with Steven Rowe, Head of Design at Tesco, to talk us through the SS18 key trends that will feature in their Fox & Ivy and core homeware brands.

Talk us through your key trends for SS18

There are two key trends that will feature across the different areas of our homeware brands for SS18. Capri is fresh and colourful, infusing pastel shades with elements of Scandi style to create a summery, modern theme. Willow has a relaxed feel with its botanical and floral designs.

Our premium homeware brand, Fox & Ivy, will continue with two trends previously established. The Soho collection’s luxe hotel style has been updated with seasonally appropriate colour palettes, and the Jardin collection features fresher floral prints and lavender overtones.

I would say that for SS18 I am always drawn to switching up colours to change mood and light.

Where do you find your inspiration for collections?

Everywhere – whether it be from the natural world, when exploring the outdoors with my dog, or an image I have stumbled across in a magazine. I also visit trade shows to get the industry scoop but I would never limit myself in terms of inspiration. I keep my eyes open!

Which key trends should we be looking out for in Spring/Summer 2018?

I really feel that colour is a key signifier for this season’s trends. I like being brave with colour and you can see this in the pops of cerise pink used in the Fox & Ivy range. I also think that the layering effects of textures really build up a great visual and tactile palette. It’s great to accessorise in this way with textiles and hard accessories.

Describe Fox & Ivy’s style

Fox & Ivy is elegant, stylish and aims to bring beautiful design ideas of exceptional quality to our customers. We believe that the style of our collections in the Fox & Ivy brand should be versatile, so whether you buy one piece or every piece it will always complement the other interiors of your own home and respresent your personal style.

Can you share some top decorating tips with us?

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, what’s the worst that can happen? You can always change it. Don’t try too hard to slavishly follow a trend. Your home should still be a reflection of you, so make sure it’s comfortable – you still have to live there!

What key interiors pieces are you lusting after for the coming season?

I prefer vintage pieces, so I love to stumble across pieces as I find them. I had been dying to get something like a butchers block for my kitchen and I found a fantastic French work bench with all of the working parts still attached, so that was a great find and served the purpose well.

What are the key pieces from Tesco’s SS18 collection?

Fox & Ivy Drinks Trolley, Fox & Ivy Mustard Yellow Armchair, Capri Pink Side Table with Copper Feet, Willow Field Mouse Cushion, all launching soon for SS18.

What trend would you like to see the back of on 2018?

I think the whole jungle style is getting a bit tired now, the palm leaves with the pink back drop. I also think the trend for wildlife – foxes, rabbits and hares – definitely needs a refresh.
