IKEA opens new high street stores
IKEA is famous for many things, from the Kallax to the Billy bookcase to those iconic blue shopping bags, but it’s also known as a destination experience for the interiors-obsessed and savvy shoppers alike. Who doesn’t love a good bank holiday weekend pilgrimage to IKEA?
And now, the flat-pack pioneer will be bringing its creative range of Scandinavian-inspired homewares to the high street, making it even quicker and easier to get your interiors fix. Here’s what you need to know…
Where are they opening city Ikeas?
The only ‘city’ store currently announced is at Hammersmith’s Kings Mall Shopping Centre in London and it’s currently slated to open in spring 2021. However, Ikea says that this store marks the start of expanding into city centres across the world, so there could be one coming to a high street near you soon too.
What will it stock?
Rather than trying to squeeze the full product range into a small format, the Hammersmith location will stock over 2,000 home furnishing accessories that are available to take away that day. However, you can also shop the entire Ikea range in store and arrange for home delivery.
Will there be meatballs?
A trip to Ikea isn’t really a trip to Ikea without a meatball pit-stop, so it promises that there will be a ‘Swedish food offer in Kings Mall’ for you to get your foodie fix.
