Trends come and go but it’s impossible to ignore the way they influence the style of our homes.
DIY retailer B&Q has predicted the new interior trends for 2020 using their website search data to see what people are buying, and what they’re not. We’ve listed a few below…
Seasonal palettes

Research shows that consumers are becoming more and more aware of seasonal colour trends, and reaching for the paint to redecorate.
A popular choice for autumn has proven to be yellow, while pink was the number one colour for spring.
No doubt there will be a transition into darker colours as the winter rolls around, such as dark forest green and inky blue.
Blue is the hue

Blue is the most searched for colour according to B&Q, other than white and grey. We think it’s because of its versatility and cocooning effect.
The blue spectrum offers a range of different hues that will suit most interior styles. Opt for dark navy for a moody and atmospheric scheme, or choose a pastel shade for an uplifting effect.

Metallic wallpaper

Geometric wallpaper is here to stay for 2020, but B&Q suggests it will take on a much more luxurious feel. Boasting golds, silvers and coppers, wallpaper is becoming much more opulent option for home decorators.
We love the idea of creating a glamorous feature wall with a metallic design such as the Ajuga charcoal wallpaper from B&Q. At just £16 a roll, it won’t cost the earth, but will make for a bold a statement.
Stylish but affordable flooring

High-impact, affordable, easy-to-install flooring is predicted to be a hit in 2020 with search terms combining ‘luxury’ and ‘flooring’ soaring on diy.com.
Within this category, dramatic styles that demand attention and offer a sense of extravagance are set to dominate as an interior trend next year.
B&Q are offering 3 for 2 on paint, flooring and tiles from now until 3rd November.
