Well, 2020 has been quite the year so far, so you’re no doubt looking forward to celebrating the festive season with friends and family, no matter what Christmas Day itself looks like.

A cosy Christmas

Creating a cosy and comforting home has been at the top of the interiors agenda this year, and there’s no surprise that this applies in a big way to Christmas décor. You’ll see plenty of warm colours, including traditional red, oranges and brown tones, and warm lighting, candles and comforting textures.

If traditional Christmas isn’t your vibe, this modern interpretation of a Scandi look can work with a wide range of homes and interior styles. Limit your colour palette to red and white, teamed with plenty of foliage, natural wood and graphic, geometric designs.

On the other end of the scale, embrace your home’s history with a heritage-inspired scheme. Think decorative detailing, period character baubles and rich colours that recall the decadence of a Victorian London townhouse.

Novelty baubles have been a big trend over the last years, and this year they continue to become evermore wacky and outrageous. While these sorts of colourful, eclectic designs used to be expensive and niche, they can be now found in most high street stores and supermarkets core collections, including Poundland and Sainsbury’s Home.

If there’s a single colour trend that’s dominating Christmas 2020, it’s soft pink. The style this year sees this blush colour combined with pretty dried pampas for a grounded scheme that doesn’t feel too overly sweet.

For a minimal, simple style that still oozes charm and comfort, try a rustic woodland look. Decorations are more pared back in this Scandi-style scheme, with lot of rustic textures such as linen and furs.
