You can inject new life into your hallway with a few budget makeover ideas.

We’ve put together some inspiring tips to get your creativity flowing.

Two-tone paint effect

Reinventing your paint scheme can completely transform the look of your hallway. Consider going for a two-tone paint effect that’s a bit out of the ordinary. We love that it gives the look of a dado rail but in a cool and contemporary way.

DIY panelling

There are many DIY panelling posts online that are easy enough to follow, just like this one by Melanie Lissack. The good thing about panelling is that it can completely change the look of your hallway and it doesn’t have to be expensive.

In short, you’ll need some decorative moulding, a thin wood of your choice, ‘lost head’ nails and a hammer. Use a spirit level to make sure you’re placing the panels correctly and after a lick of paint you’re sure to be blown away by the outcome.

Magic mirror

A simple but effective trick is hanging a large mirror in your hallway. This will automatically make the room feel bigger and will bounce the light around your hallway. We recommend a circular metallic design as they are bang on trend right now!

Bold wallpaper

Dare to be bold and opt for a statement wallpaper to greet you and your guests when you enter your home. Choose a budget-friendly wallpaper from shops such as B&Q and Wilko, or if you want to invest a bit more, Lime Lace have some gorgeous options.

Opt for a radiator cover

If you’ve got a bulky radiator taking up the majority of your hallway, then a contemporary radiator cover could make the world of difference. We really like simple white designs, such as this Maurice cover from Wayfair.

You can also use the top ledge as a place to display your favourite accessories and make a feature out of your radiator – much better than loathing it!

Create a mini gallery wall
