Many people are choosing to avoid plastic which contains BPA (Bisphenol A), as there are reports of it being toxic to humans. Standard food tubs have been hailed as one of the most likely ways you’ll come into contact with BPA (other big culprits are receipts and tin cans), so we’ve compiled our favourite selection of BPA-free storage to keep your food fresh and give you complete peace of mind.

For the widest (and most affordable) range of glass food storage, Ikea is the place to go. There’s square, rectangle and circular-shaped designs in a variety of sizes, all with the option of having a BPA-free plastic clip-top lid or a bamboo one. The bamboo design is definitely more suited to ingredient storage and shouldn’t be relied on for spill-free transportation, as the seal is quite light. An ingenious addition is the option to buy coloured silicone “gaskets” to use with the plastic lids – great for colour-coordinating different foods or leftovers.
