How to clean your air fryer

Salomé Gião, the in-house microbiologist at Shark has revealed her expert advice on keeping air fryers lean and hygienic.

She states: “Although their convenience is what makes them so popular, they need more care than ovens do, and that is a common misconception.

“The basket and tray need to be washed after every use by rinsing with a soap solution.

“Even if you are using air fryer liners, it’s important to disinfect the basket after use.

“Away from daily use, a deep clean should be done on your air fryer every four weeks, or two to three weeks depending on usage.

“This is to remove bacteria from any spillages or splatters that can occur when cooking.

“Using a non-scratch sponge, create a baking soda paste to hone in on those areas of stubborn grease.
