Love Island interiors: 10 ways to get the villacore look at home

Love Island is back! And while we can’t wait to get embroiled in the drama, dumpings and ‘ick’ declarations, as interior obsessives we’re also going to have one eye on the decor.

Set on the Mallorcan coast, against the backdrop of the Mediterranean sea, the wannabe daters will be spending the next eight weeks getting their graft on in a luxurious Spanish villa.

Blending the traditional charm of a country finca with contemporary design, the villa, with its neon lights, fluoro-pop colour scheme and open-air fire pit, is almost as synonymous to the series as the romance, recoupling and red flags.

But while the decor has us dreaming of sun-soaked days and balmy nights sitting under the stars, there’s no doubt it’s something of a style statement.

And while we might want to capture some of the essence of the Love Island look, recreating the entire villa design in a Victorian terrace in rainy England might be quite the challenge.

Thankfully, experts say there’s a way to bring a little bit of island life to our own, considerably more humble, abodes, without having to go full on factor 50.

“When people think of Love Island interiors, they’re usually picturing that sun-drenched, slightly playful look – lots of warm neutrals, pops of bold colour, layered textures and a real focus on indoor-outdoor living,” explains Victoria Robinson, style and trend expert at Hillarys.

“It feels relaxed, sociable and a bit escapist. In the UK we obviously don’t have the same climate, but you can absolutely take inspiration from that laid-back, holiday feel and reinterpret it in a softer, more liveable way for everyday homes.”

Focus on an ‘outdoor living’ feel (whatever the weather)

One of the biggest design cues from Love Island is its emphasis on outdoor living.

From the iconic fire pit and poolside day beds, to the cosy conversation corners dotted around the garden, the villa is designed to make spending time outside feel effortless.

The boundaries between indoors and out are deliberately blurred, creating spaces that flow naturally and encourage people to get together and connect.

“Even if you don’t have a big garden, you can create that same vibe by treating your outdoor area as an extension of your living room,” explains Victoria.

“Think comfortable seating, layered outdoor rugs, lantern lighting and soft throws. It’s less about perfection and more about creating a space people naturally want to gather in.”

Kunal Trehan, interior designer and founder of Touched Interiors agrees the heart of the Love Island villa is its outdoor living space.

To recreate a similar vibe at home, he suggests investing in comfortable lounge seating, layered lighting and plenty of greenery to create a garden that feels like an extension of your home.

“Even in the UK, a fire pit, covered pergola or outdoor heater can help make the space usable for longer,” he adds.

Introduce warm, sun-washed tones

Much of the villa’s laid-back Mediterranean charm comes from its warm, sun-drenched colour palette, with terracottas, sandy neutrals, soft pinks and muted oranges helping to create that perpetual golden-hour glow.

“You don’t need to repaint the whole room,” Victoria says, of incorporating the scheme in your own home. “Even something as simple as swapping in new cushions, a throw or a textured blind in those warmer tones can instantly make a space feel more relaxed and summer-y.”

While sun-baked hues form the foundation of the Love Island look, they’re only part of the story.

The villa’s designers also aren’t afraid to dial up the personality with bold accents and playful pops of colour.

For those wanting to bring the look into their home, Steven Dempsey, style consultant at Shutterly Fabulous, recommends focusing on introducing bright colours against simple backdrops.

“The show uses this throughout the entire villa, but if you want more subtle ways to use the effect, smaller additions such as vibrant turquoise and pink pillows on cream or white sofas are a simple but effective way to mimic the look,” he continues.

“The aim here is to use contrasting shades to create bright pockets of colour in a space alongside simple whites.”

If you’re looking to use the colours in a bigger way, Steven says this year’s villa makes great use of colour blocking to help make the bright contrasting colours stand out.

And don’t overlook introducing some colour outside.

“The freshly renovated fire pit area now sports a royal blue colour throughout, from the floors to the surrounding walls,” explains Steve. “

For those wanting to embrace the villa’s aesthetic fully, decorating your garden in an interesting new colour just in time for summer is the perfect way to replicate one of the most iconic spots in the series.”

Layer textures rather than adding more ‘stuff’

What Love Island interiors do really well, according to Victoria, is mix textures – rattan, linen, wood, ceramics – which stops it feeling flat.

“It’s not about adding loads of accessories, but about choosing a few pieces with real texture and character,” she adds.

“Woven blinds or a tactile fabric shade can do a lot of the heavy lifting here.”

Have fun with lighting

A key part of the show’s aesthetic is those iconic LED signs – with everything from “Eat, Sleep, Crack On, Repeat”, to “Mugged Off” displayed in neon lights dotted around the villa.

If you’re not so keen on having Love Island lingo plastered across your walls, Steven suggests finding a specific quote or design you enjoy and using it to illuminate an otherwise dull corner of your home.

“This will add some light (and character) to the space,” he adds.

Think going full neon illumination is a lighting technique too far?

A softer alternative, with a similar playful edge, is using warm-toned LEDs, festoon lights outside, or a statement lamp.

“The key is keeping it warm and inviting rather than too bright or clinical,” Victoria advises.

Create a boujie bathroom

From break-ups to make-ups, a lot of the villa drama takes place in the bathroom.

But it’s not just the gossip that’s worth taking note of – the luxe design scheme has some steal-worthy ideas for creating your own Love Island-esque sanctuary.

“The villa’s new bathroom design is an area people will be keen to draw inspiration from,” Steven explains.

“The boldly coloured mosaic tiles that can now be seen throughout the villa’s bathrooms illustrates that the space doesn’t have to be purely practical.

Like much of the villa’s decor, the mosaic tiles tend to be a mixture of white and a brighter accent colour, such as orange, which adds character to the room.”

Bring in greenery (real or faux)

That lush, slightly tropical feel is a big part of the Love Island look.

“Large leafy plants soften a space and make it feel more relaxed,” Victoria advises.

“If you’re not confident with real plants, high-quality faux options can work just as well, especially in darker corners where natural light is limited.”

If you do opt for real house plants, Steven suggests choosing something like a large monstera to create that Mediterranean atmosphere.

“Smaller plants such as succulents and cacti can be used on surfaces to keep that same feeling going,” he adds.

Keep it sociable and slightly undone

Whether it’s a kitchen island, breakfast bar or outdoor dining area, Kunal suggests creating spaces that encourage conversation and entertaining.

“The Love Island look is ultimately less about decoration and more about designing a home that brings people together,” he explains.

Victoria agrees that socialisation is a big aspect of the aesthetic.

“For me, the essence of the Love Island look isn’t about it being ‘perfect’ – it’s about creating a space that feels easy and sociable,” she adds.

“A mix of seating, a few statement pieces, and a slightly relaxed finish is what gives it that effortless, holiday-inspired feel.”

Keep it calm with clever storage

A clutter-free bedroom is key to achieving that serene holiday-at-home feel.

“Built-in wardrobes, floating bedside tables, and discreet storage solutions help maintain a clean and calming environment, allowing textures, lighting, and natural tones to become the focus,” explains Joanne Dodsworth, head of bedrooms at Wren Bedrooms.

“Despite the bold colours and playful styling, luxury villas still maintain a clean, uncluttered feel that’s key to recreating the look at home,” Joanne continues.

“Clever built-in storage paired with subtle LED lighting helps create that same relaxing atmosphere, making the bedroom feel like your own private retreat.”

Go big on mirrors

The Love Island villa is all about light, space and creating the perfect backdrop for every conversation, recoupling and morning debrief.

One of the simplest design tricks you can use to brighten and open up the spaces in your own home is embracing oversized mirrors, which help reflect light around and make rooms feel bigger and more luxurious.

“Large wall mirrors or mirrored wardrobes help bounce natural light around the room, creating a lighter, airier atmosphere,” explains Joanne.

“Statement mirrors with natural wood or distressed frames work particularly well for achieving that Mediterranean-inspired look,” she continues.

“Positioning a tall mirror near a window can amplify sunlight and make the space feel much bigger and more luxurious.”

Add a statement feature

Much like the new Love Island villa, which features bold accent colours, curved seating, and playful statement decor, adding one standout feature can instantly transform the feel of a space.

“We’re seeing a real shift towards tactile interiors this summer,” Joanne says.

“Think relaxed linen fabrics, boucle textures, oversized headboards, sculptural furniture, and pops of coral, citrus, or terracotta to inject warmth into the room.”
