7 spooktacular Halloween décor trends for 2022

October 25, 2022

Give your home a spooky seasonal makeover with these Halloween decoration ideas, from tablescapes to doorscapes and pimped-up pumpkins to Halloween wallpaper…

1. Halloween doorscaping

The best place to start with your decorating is your front door. Doorscaping has become a big thing, thanks to influencers like Stacey Soloman. A good place to start is with an autumn wreath, then you can add an elaborate floral door surround, a pile of pumpkins either side of the door, some lights, and any other Halloween paraphernalia you see fit. If you’d rather DIY it than buy it, you’ll find plenty of autumn craft ideas on Pinterest.

2. Halloween wallpaper

Bring the house of horrors into your living room or bedroom with a spooky feature wall. Wallsauce has tonnes of Halloween wallpaper inspiration, from temporary wall stickers to more permanent wallpaper solutions (if you’re a fan of pumpkins and all things dark and spooky, why not?). You can instantly transport yourself to a creepy graveyard or haunted house to create the perfect backdrop to the Halloween party to end all Halloween parties!

3. Fright night decoration

Not all of these Halloween decoration ideas require redecorating, you’ll be pleased to know! Some are just quick and easy swaps, like summer cushions in bright shades for more muted, autumnal hues. Rattan and wicker are still very much on-trend, and the cosy vibe they bring fits perfectly with Halloween. Simply scattering candles, cushions and flowers strategically will give your room a spooky vibe, setting it up beautifully for a frightful movie night.

4. Halloween tablescaping

Creating seasonal tablescapes for the season has become hugely popular in the last few years and Halloween is no exception. This stunning pumpkin table runner, candles and pumpkin place-settings offer a Harry Potter vibe, which is ideal for October entertaining.

5. Halloween gonks

Brace yourselves – the Halloween gonk is now a thing! The Nordic gnomes have recently become a huge Christmas decor trend, so it was only a matter of time before they got a mischievous makeover for All Hallows’ Eve. According to Norwegian folklore, these little creatures favour colder weather and like to cosy up in houses where, if the family welcomes them, they will bring good luck. Halloween gonks are popping up all over the high street at various price points, from a cheap-and-cheerful £1.50 at Poundland to the more plush, John Lewis end of the spectrum.

6. Pumpkin vases

For a more sophisticated take on pumpkin carving, try creating vases out of those glorious orange gourds and filling them with seasonal blooms or dried flowers. Simply, yet very effective. In fact, decorating pumpkins, rather than carving them, is very much a thing. Find some great ideas for pumpkin decorating here.
