The property industry, like many others, has embraced the digital age and is making life easier for home buyers than ever before. Interested in helping those looking to buy as the market slowly begins to pick back up, Bankrate has compiled a list of the best apps for those embarking on a home buying journey.

1. Rightmove

Not only will you get listings for every property that’s up for sale on Rightmove, but you’ll also be able to access information such as schools and stations near each property. They also have neat features allowing you to use GPS technology to see the properties for sale as you wander around different streets. What’s more, you can turn on alerts that help keep you ahead of others when something new comes on the market.

2. Crime map

If you’re moving to a new area, being aware of local crime levels can be an eye-opener. Home buyers can now add to their local knowledge with Crime Map. This app gives statistics on crime levels in any area of England & Wales and compares it to the national average – offering potential home buyers peace of mind.

3. Zoopla

Zoopla is a really handy app to see what’s on the market and discover the value that properties have previously sold for, giving you an idea of what your budget will allow and how much of an investment your purchase will potentially be. It also has a cost calculator, meaning it will give you a rough idea of how much bills are likely to cost on the property.

5. Hoffr

Hoffr is a low cost and easy way to access private property sales across the UK. The app includes an ‘open home’ feature that lets you request viewing times and sellers can also accept or reject requests, all at the click of a button! It’s free to contact sellers or buyers, and there are no registration or application fees involved. Home buyers and sellers have nothing to lose and everything to gain with this app.

6. AroundMe

If you’re moving to an area where you are not overly familiar with your surroundings, then this app can be of great value! AroundMe is a useful tool to help find places nearby such as the most convenient bank, supermarket, or park. It comes complete with maps and user ratings – helping you to pinpoint those all-important spots.
