Season two runners-up Alex and Olivia Bowen have swapped Love Island for kitchen islands recently, as they have been documenting their home renovation on their popular Instagram account @thebowenhome.

Take a tour around their cool and contemporary kitchen makeover in their luxurious Essex home.

Contemporary classic

Alex and Olivia’s kitchen design is centered around entertaining. The central island is the ideal space for a spot of breakfast or to party with friends and family whilst the kitchen design itself is very classic and timeless. Grey shaker cabinets are contrasted with a white quartz worktop and chrome details. The pair also opted for parquet flooring throughout in an ultra light wood for a modern finish.

Time to entertain

On the opposite side of the couple’s kitchen is an eight-seater oak dining table which is ideal for a more formal occasion. Olivia has styled her table with beige linen chairs and plain white crockery for a luxurious feel. To make the room feel even more spacious than it already is, she has accessorised with an oversized black-framed mirror to bounce light around the room.

Traditional elements

The couple’s kitchen is the perfect mix of modern and traditional elements. They opted for a double Belfast sink with a traditional-style chrome tap which looks out on to the garden, offering a peaceful and tranquil space to complete kitchen chores.

Statement lighting

No stylish kitchen island is complete without statement pendant lights and Alex and Olivia’s kitchen is no exception. The couple’s pendant lights are from Neptune and transform their island into an ambient entertaining space as soon as the evening rolls around.
