Shaker-style meets industrial chic in this modern kitchen
September 16, 2020
A single-storey extension allowed for this classic but contemporary kitchen and dining space that is perfect for entertaining. Located in the heart of beautiful Essex, this most recent kitchen project from The Main Company boasts a classic Shaker-style kitchen but with a modern twist. Perfect for accommodating friends and family, this inspiring open space is no doubt the heart of the home.
Bespoke windows
The new floor-to-ceiling bespoke steel windows create a bright and airy space for the kitchen diner. An extendable four-to-six seater dining table occupies the other side of the kitchen and is perfect for more formal occasions, while casual meals can be eaten at the breakfast bar.
The bespoke windows open up the space out into the garden but also fit in with the industrial feel of this kitchen.

Space-saving island
One of the main challenges that was given to The Main Company from the client was to create a functioning kitchen island in a relatively small space. Hanging pendant lights create a focal point and the black wire bar stools give the island an industrial edge.

Shaker-style
This teal and gold kitchen offers a contemporary aesthetic but with a classic and timeless design. A Shaker-style kitchen is definitely more of a traditional style of kitchen however this scheme has been modernised with black and brass brassware, exposed brick and reclaimed wood.
The kitchen also incorporates handcrafted cupboards that work specifically for this family. The peninsular pan drawers and full-length larder cupboard are just a couple of examples that ensure plenty of storage space.

Industrial elements
There are many rustic elements of this kitchen/dining space which counter balance perfectly with the luxurious Shaker-style and quartz design. Above the sink there are reclaimed wood shelves, which act as the perfect display and storage area. The homeowners also opted for industrial-style fittings such as a black tap and exposed pendant lights, which complete the overall look.
