Wickes launches first ever fitted home office range

Today, exactly one year since many of us starting working from home, over a third of Brits still say they do not have a dedicated workspace. This is a shocking statistic especially as 75% feel like flexible, remote blended working is here to stay.

In light of this, home improvement retailer Wickes has launched their first ever fitted home office range to alleviate us from the pains of makeshift spaces. From standalone office space in the spare bedroom, to utilising wasted space under the stairs, the home offices are available in classic shaker designs and handleless solutions.

What was the inspiration for the range?

We spoke to Paul Bangs, Category Director for Kitchen, Home Office & Flooring at Wickes, about the range. He said:

“We’ve seen insights from our research and our suppliers into home office requirements and the demand for a working space within the home continuing to grow beyond 2020. It’s really clear that working from home is not the same for every person.

“There are some who need a space 9-5, five days a week and others who just need a nook or workspace to utilise once or twice a week for a few hours. We are so proud of this new launch as it offers customers a solution no matter what their needs or space requirements are… ”

How do I install the Wickes fitted home office range?

Similar to the shop’s kitchen and bathroom after sales provision, the fitted home office is supported by Wickes’ design and installation service meaning you won’t be stressing over complicated instructions, fiddly components and finding the right hardware.

Instead, a Wickes approved installer can come to you, ready to tackle the task with Covid precautions taken care of.

On top of this, the fit will come with a 2 year workmanship guarantee for piece of mind. However, if you are quite partial to a bit of DIY, then, these products are available as supply only.

How can Wickes help me assess the suitability for a fitted home office?

As well as helping out with the handiwork, Wickes also offer 3D/4D computer aided design technology to reimagine your space. They will also explore the following factors to tailor your space, working with fixtures that already exist in your rooms.

  • Storage: Do you need to keep everything packed away in a cupboard or in drawers? Or would you prefer to keep everything on display
  • Lighting: Do you need soft or relaxing light or a brightly lit space?
  • Ergonomics: Are you getting the most comfort out of your space? Can Wickes help improve your posture?
  • Work-life balance: Are you able to leave work at the ‘office’ and revert back to using it as a multifunctional social space on the weekend?
