The viral hack to keep your shed tidy (no DIY required)
At this time of year, our sheds often become quite cluttered. In much the same way our inside cupboards do, they bare the brunt of garden objects we don’t know what do do with.
Before the end of the summer, it’s a good time to set your shed straight ahead of the autumn.
Luckily, a new viral hack is here to help get things in order.
What is the bungee cord viral shed hack?
The hack costs less than £10, and will help to keep your shed tidy for the autumn season, and beyond! Definitely worth it (we think so anyway). But how does it work?
Begin by investing in a set of bungee cords, and some cup hooks to secure them to the wall of your shed.
You’ll also need a bradawl to make the holes, a screwdriver and some wood screws (essentials of a tool kit).
The hack works well as the bungee strap or cord is able to secure loads with their stretchy ropes.
They stretch and provide tension, with hooks at each end which can be fixed to your shed wall.
This is a great way to use otherwise unused wall space, and or awkward corners that otherwise might go to waste.
What other ways can I organise my shed?
If bungee cords aren’t for you or they aren’t suited to your shed space, there are plenty of other hacks out there for sorting your shed storage.
Here we share some of our favourites…
Cushion hanger
This innovative method is great for storing your garden seat cushions. Hanging them this way will help to prevent mould over the winter and damp, whilst also making it easier to access them when they’re needed.
It’s also a brilliant way to utilise the ceiling of the shed as a storage spot.
Pallet corner
Shed corners are often another area that isn’t utilised enough (except by spiders), so creating a corner for your garden tools is a great use of the space.
Using pallets to hold the garden tools in is simple and easy to do even if you have minimal DIY skills.
Once done, it will be in place for as long as you have the shed. It will also likely hold more garden tools than you’re expecting, and therefore a great use of space.
DIY door
If you have children or grandchildren in your life, it’s likely the inside of your shed is overrun with bikes, toys, and other bits and bobs, so there really is limited space to store your actual garden tools and DIY bits.
Enter, the DIY door – a space you can immediately and easily access all of the garden essentials you need.
Think drills, WD40, screen wash, pesticides and all the other bits and pieces you need for the garden.
All you’ll need is some wooden boards to act as a makeshift shelf, and the trusty bungy cords we mentioned earlier!
