Ahead of the arrival of her little one, Love Island’s Dani Dyer teamed up with the home decor experts at Wayfair to curate the perfect gender neutral nursery. Wayfair’s Resident Style Advisor, Nadia McCowan Hill, breakdown Dani’s nursery scheme style.
Embrace neutrals to start

Crafting a colour palette of primarily pale and pastel tones is a great starting point for curating your unisex nursery. Keen to keep her baby’s sex a surprise for a little longer, Dani opted for a soft dove grey palette to create a fresh and calming foundation, and then added subtle but significant pops of colour and pattern in refreshing mint tones.
Dani adds: ‘We have gone for a very neutral style with the nursery, with the grey and white colour palette, touches of mint green and all the sweet details, such as the bunting or twinkling star curtains. It’s a great fit for a boy or a girl.’
Combine elegance with baby-friendly prints

Children’s furniture doesn’t have to be gimmicky, or interrupt the feng shui of your home. Ensure a continued sense of style throughout the whole space by opting for child-focused versions of your own interior design preferences.

Collect soft and comfortable accessories

New parents will likely spend a lot of long nights in the nursery, so comfort has got to be a priority. Keen to create a soft, tactile and warming space, Dani and Wayfair brought a cosy glow to the cot area with a draped canopy and fairy lights, and created an inviting nursing corner complete with a comfy rocker and a soft sheepskin rug.
Dani adds: ‘The draped canopy and fairy lights are definitely my favourite pieces. They have a lovely energy and the lights add a soothing glow to the room. I’m really looking forward to spending so much time in this space.’
Choose adventurous themes
For those looking to steer clear of stereotypically ‘girly’ or ‘boyish’ themes, nautical, space and jungle topics are great options to consider. Dani chose subtle animal motifs for her baby’s space, opting for a cute peel-and-stick elephant wallpaper, and safari-inspired toys and accessories.
Dani adds: ‘I knew I wanted the elephant print from the start – I love elephants as I find them so spiritual and calming. The animal theme also works perfectly for a gender neutral nursery as it was important to us for the baby’s sex to be a surprise, we can’t wait!’
Build clever storage solutions

Newborns come with a lot of stuff, so fitting the nursery with ample storage space is key for ensuring the room is both fashionable and functional. It was important to Dani that the space was styled with practicality in mind, so she opted for a slim wardrobe, a changing table with in-built storage, and some cute floating shelves.
Dani adds: ‘I love to be organised and so it was vital to have handy storage and shelving. The deep drawers in the changing unit and the little wardrobe have made me very happy.’
