We were looking to upgrade our old boiler to a new combi boiler that would heat water directly from the mains for showers and baths as well as running our central heating system. Having a combi boiler also meant that we would be able to remove the hot water cylinder that was taking up space in an airing cupboard in one of our bedrooms.
Alpha recommended the E-Tec Plus 38kW model for our three-bedroom semi, providing plenty of hot water for showers and baths for our family of five.
Key features
This boiler is perfect size, fitting in a standard kitchen cupboard, and is designed with front access to parts for quick and straightforward servicing. It also comes with a 10 year warranty and is available in three outputs: 28kW, 33kW and 38kW whilst offering a flow rate capacity of 15.9 litres of water per minute.

The technical stuff
Alpha’s E-Tec models carry a Class 6 NOx rating and Opentherm compatibility, so can partner easily with the latest energy saving controls.

Smart phone connection
We opted for an Alpha Connect programmable thermostat, which means we can control our heating from anywhere via an app for a smart phone or tablet. It was straight forward to set up with concise and easy to understand instructions

Installation
It was easy to find a local tradesman on Alpha’s website, with the peace of mind that all the installers listed have installed Alpha’s boilers within the last six months, so are up-to-date with the products and installation procedures
Price
A guide price for the boiler including installation would be around £1700, plus £150 for the supply and set up of the Alpha Connect thermostat. A great price compared with other quotations we received.
