We sat down with Soho Home’s lighting designer, Lucio Longoni, to chat about Soho Home‘s brand new collection inspired by The Ned, one of Soho House’s newest and most stunning hotels in London.

Talk us through the Ned collection

‘The Ned collection is a nostalgic collection of unique items, which are reminiscent of 1920s grandeur taken after the building, its history and the modern day hotel & club, which currently occupies it.’

What design elements or concepts have inspired it?

‘We take direct inspiration from our houses around the world from London to Barcelona and Istanbul. Each house has its own unique character and style inspired by the building, location and history.’

What makes Soho Home furniture/lighting unique?

‘As a members’ club our houses are designed to make our guest feel at home at all times. From the low level lighting to the vintage furniture the Soho House look aims to bring the ultimate levels of comfort and cool.

Our product and lighting reflect our casual and eclectic interiors using a mix of styles from vintage to classic to mid-century.’

‘The William lamp takes inspiration by the impressive verdite green marble columns, which are featured throughout the ground floor of the building.

Another key piece is the charming and nostalgic Walbrook floor lamp. This elegant light features curved antique brass and decorative tassles evoking a ’20s feel.’

Which pieces are this season’s collection heroes?

‘The iconic cinema light is recognisable throughout our houses and is the perfect take piece of Soho house to bring into your home.’

Can you share some of your interior design tips for recreating the collection’s look in our own homes?

‘The key is comfortable but cool. Use low-level lighting to set the mood and then incorporate tactile materials and textures for a cosy feel. Items such as the Barwell crystal glasses or the Purcell floor lamp will instantly add some Soho charm to your home.’

What is next for Soho Home?

‘As we open new houses at home and around the world we will continue to release new and exciting products. Looking to our archive we will also be developing classic pieces to build to add to our ever evolving range.’
