9 of the hottest bedroom trends for 2023

Cultivating a cosy, cocooning sanctuary is the number-one goal for this space, but that doesn’t mean you can’t put your stamp on it. The hottest bedroom trends for 2023 feature gorgeous ideas ranging from leopard-print walls to calming colour drenching, stylish wall panelling and creating a cute little reading nook. Good Homes highlights the latest looks for beautiful boudoirs…

1. Rethink animal print

Leopard print can be a bit Marmite – you either love it or loathe it. But if you love it, it can make a fabulous, bold statement in your bedroom. Bobbi Beck, a carbon-neutral design and print studio specialising in sustainably-made luxury wallpaper, offers the perfect Diego premium wallpaper (£83 per 10 metre roll), designed in collaboration with LA based Katie Zamprioli as part of her @candycolouredhome collection. Team the leopard print with a rattan headboard and neutral-toned bedlinen and throws.

2. Add a panelled shelf

If you’re looking for pared-back and practical, install a panelled wall with space above for a display shelf, painting it the same shade as the rest of the room. Follow Simply Scandi Home’s YouTube tutorial for step-by-step tips on how to create one yourself. And for a twist on a traditional bedside cabinet or side table, why not swap it for a vintage chair, with understated wall lights in place of table lamps.

3. A cosy reading nook

Take a mindful approach by turning an alcove or unused corner of the room into a cosy nook for reading or relaxing and add a statement feature door. Tapping into 2023’s penchant for nostalgia, this chic room has been styled by @nicolegraystylist for Habitat, and she’s calling bold pink and blue, your ‘new colour crush’. The walls are painted in YesColours Loving Pink (more of a deep burgundy on the colour spectrum) and the striking striped door, is painted in YesColours Calming Blue and Electric Hot White.

4. Calming colour drenching

Colourtrend has picked Sky Blue as one its colours of the year for 2023. Elevate the timeless pairing of blue and white by introducing warmer neutrals like grey and stone to modern blue hues such as Colourtrend’s Air Force and Denim. Finish with one or two vibrant pops of red, cobalt or even black for definition. This beautifully colour-drenched blue bedroom features walls painted in Boathouse Blue, Blue Ribbon and Eidelweiss White, all from Delux Heritage.

5. New Nordic

Dressing your bed correctly is key to making your bedroom look as chic as possible. It’s an easy update, but one that’s often missed. Beat the winter chill with a second duvet set in a coordinating design for extra cosiness or for a contemporary take on a traditional bedspread. Layer with tactile cushions and throws, dressing the room with oversized plants, sculptural vases and accessories to keep the scheme looking fresh and modern.

6. Create a gallery wall

Ocean vibes are a go-to when creating a calming environment and the bedroom trends for 2023 really see that becoming more popular. Create a mini gallery wall with framed pictures in tonal shades. Odd prints work best using prints in varied sizes. Try Desenio, The Poster Club or Etsy for some of the best prints on the market. Buy them ready framed or head to IKEA for great-value frames. Add vases or lamps in deep blue shades to complement the artwork.

7. Bold botanicals

Biophilia is another great bedroom trend for 2023. For a striking cross between a headboard and a feature wall, ask a builder’s merchant with a cutting service to cut a piece of MDF to your required size, screw it to the wall and apply one or two coats of MDF primer. Once dry, wallpaper with an eye-catching design. This Fable Plum Wallpaper (£65 per 10m roll) and Epoch matt emulsion (£48 per 2.5 litres) are both from Graham & Brown.

9. Create a cloud bed

One of the simplest ways to update your bedroom, without doing a full overhaul is by switching up your artwork and bringing a day dreaming feel to your bedroom. Clouds are not just for a nursery with these chic prints from Aureous. This three-piece cloud print comes as a set designed to be hung together. Try the sky blue, or opt for a moodier sky, with one of their magenta cloud prints, that takes inspiration from the Pantone Colour of the Year 2023.
