The kitchen is the heart of the home but it's not always as easy as other rooms to update if we feel like a style change. We've put together five ideas that can transform the look of your kitchen, while costing under £100.

Create a splashback

Tiling can seem daunting at first, but a small splashback is a great way to ease yourself into it. Not only will you improve your DIY skills but a statement splashback is an effective way of updating your kitchen without breaking the bank. Top on-trend designs include this pink metro style and patterned Victorian-inspired tiles.

Design your own floor

Ahh and relax. Or rather insta and chill 💜 Today has been full of those tedious jobs for me. Things like cleaning mirrors. Finding places for the odd bits that the kids scatter around the house. Fixing little things that have broken. But this morning what was supposed to be a super boring job ended up really inspiring me.. I booked in at the @apple #geniusbar to have my phone looked at. Turned out it just needed to be wiped clean and have the software reinstalled so that’s all good. But whilst the guy was fixing it, he asked me what I do for a living so I told him of my many jobs which always makes me laugh 😂 Incase you don’t know, I run my art print business. I take on commissions as and when I get them. I teach freelance fitness classes. Hold my own nutrition groups. Do the odd shift in my parents club. And every now and again I get called on for my beauty therapy skills I learned at college - most of which I enjoy 🤷🏻‍♀️😂💜 Anyway, back to the point Rachael.. Turns out Apple have a pretty nifty new bit of technology in the #ipadpro and you can buy an app called #procreate which is absolutely AMAZING for designing digital artwork. Who knew?? Or am I stuck in the dark ages with my paper and paint brush 😂 I do absolutely adore creating a piece of artwork on paper. There’s something very grounding about it. But I can’t deny I have thought multiple times about how much quicker it would be to bang out some of the millions of more simpler ideas I carry around in my paper idea book, as opposed to the days it would take me to create the same on paper. I have a few amazing ideas for if and when I manage to afford this magnificent piece of technology. And when I do, there’ll be lots more designs coming your way 💜 Here’s my kitchen floor anyway, all painted by hand (not with a stencil I case you don’t know) And I can’t imagine I will ever stop enjoying painting on other mediums 💜 • • • #rachaelhavenhanddesign #mycolourfulinterior #colourmyhome #colormadetheroom #myartobsessivelife #tuesdayvibes #mycreativeinterior #walltowallstyle #mycreativebiz #pinkinmyfeed #makeithappen #handpainted #makeitrustoleum #happeningonebay #neonhome #pinkinmygaff #neonpink

Take inspiration from Rachael and paint your existing floor – a bold move and not a DIY job for the faint-hearted, but it allows your creativity to run wild. If you aren't brave enough to go freehand like Rachael, then there are lots of stencils online that will make your life easier. Or why not try one of these other easy floor DIYs?

Transform your kitchen cupboards

Paint is your friend when it comes to budget kitchen renovations. If you're bored of your kitchen cupboards and fancy adding a dose of colour to your space, painting them might be the answer. Before taking the plunge, make sure you can visualise what the final result will be and how it will look up against your worktops and wall colour.

Switch up your fittings

You may think that you're stuck with your kitchen fittings until you undergo an entire refurb, however that isn't the case. You can quite easily change your kitchen tap, for example, which is a focal point in many kitchens. Why not switch up your cupboard handles too to completely change up your kitchen's vibe?

Swap out seating

Rattan Bar Stools

Seating in a kitchen can set the tone for the entire space. If you have a breakfast bar, or an overhanging worktop which you can fit bar stools underneath, then consider opting for new designs that will instantly update your kitchen. We are huge fans of rattan designs that we are seeing pop up in high street stores such as Dunelm.
