It’s that time of year when we start to learn what the big trends in paint colour are set to be for both the autumn and winter, and the coming year.

So far, a handful of experts prediction have been revealed for the interior trends set to take 2021 by storm, so get inspired by these hot-right-now shades.

Dulux’s Brave Ground

One of the biggest colour releases each year is from Dulux. The go-to name in paint has opted for Brave Ground for 2021 - and who knew beige could be so controversial? While many are happy for this grounded, warm neutral to set the tone for a hopefully much calmer 2021, some have criticised Brave Ground for being dull in a world that could use a little pop of joy right now.

Neptune’s Olive

Neptune’s colour experts may have picked the colour Olive before the world went a bit sideways in 2020, but it just so happens it’s the perfect shade for the world we live in now. Classic, comforting and cosy, it’s a great colour for interiors that make you want to stay at home, and an option for those who like the idea of Brave Ground, but aren’t on board with the beige/brown.

Graham & Brown’s Epoch

This rich shade of plum is Graham & Brown’s Colour of the Year for 2021, looking to the future with one eye on the past. It’s a colour that screams regality and luxury, but it’s also calming and cocooning too.

“Epoch works brilliantly when used as a feature wall partnered with lighter hues of lavender and heather - this will soften the impact of the darker colour whilst ensuring that all walls of the room tie together cohesively,” says Abby Hesketh, Product Manager and Paint & Colour Specialist at Graham & Brown.

Johnstone’s Be Well palette

This year, the experts at PPG have curated a range of Johnstone’s Trade paints based on contemporary trends called the Voices of Colour. Within the trend report, the experts found that brown is, very much, the new grey, and curated three distinct colour palettes for the home. Our favourite? The Be Well palette, which highlights three core colours: oatmeal-style Transcend, ginger-toned Big Cypress and watercolour green Misty Aqua – a combination of fresh and earthy to create a natural peacefulness.

Crown’s Naturally Perfect palette

This collection of warm pinks and oranges is inspired by beauty palettes. Crown suggest using these colours in tonal decorating schemes, creating slight contrasts between elements, such as the walls and ceiling here, to trick the eye and create interesting illusions in the space.
