Before selling your home, you may want to consider changing the colour of your front door to up its value...
With the property market reopening, as restrictive lockdown measures decrease, many people are keen to get their properties up for sale.
To give homeowners an advantage when deciding to sell their home, we spoke to Sellhousefast.uk which has considered potential variables that could change the value of a property. The housing experts found the colour of your front door can affect the value of your house quite significantly, but what did they find?
What front door colour adds the most value?
Blue is proven to be the most valuable front door colour to have, adding an average of £4,000 to property. Brown is the least valuable, decreasing property value by an average of £700. It is also wise to avoid ‘extreme colours’ and keep things neutral if you are selling, advises property experts. But remember, you can paint your front door whichever colour you like, it may just be a good idea if you do go for something more bold, to repaint it before you put your property on the market.
Alex Willcocks of Burbeck Interiors says: “Extreme colours for doors are great if you want to inject your personality into your property but aren't great for selling houses. I would recommend painting your front door a neutral colour, or for a more modern property, opt for a more contemporary style as a focal point before you decide to sell.”
Would you be put off painting your front door a bold colour knowing it will decrease the value of your home?
