If you go down to the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise. The grounds are home to a plethora of natural fauna, flora and wildlife including red and roe deer retreating from the lush golf course grasses to the surroundings woods for daytime solitude. Kids will love spotting wild Exmoor ponies en route to the hotel too.

How to get to the hotel

By car: Highbullen can be approached from all points of the compass and your Sat Nav will not necessarily bring you the best route. So, to avoid the steepest hill and the narrow roads, follow the routes below as you get closer.

From the East and South Molton. Leave South Molton on the B3227 signed to Torrington. After 3.8 miles turn off left at Four White Gates signed to Warkleigh 2.5 miles. At the next cross roads, Hilltown Cross, turn right signed to Warleigh and Chittlehamholt. After 200M take next right signed to Warkleigh Church. At the next cross roads, Swing Gate Cross, turn left towards Chittlehamholt and drive straight through the village and Highbullen is found on the left. (7.5 miles total)

If coming from the West and Torrington: Follow the B3227 from Umberleigh towards South Molton and turn right 2 miles from Umberleigh at Homedown Cross, signed 4 miles to Chittlehamholt. Drive straight through the village and Highbullen is found on the left.

If coming from the South and Exeter: Follow the A377 and turn right to South Molton at Fortescue Cross onto the B3226. Follow this road for 1.5 miles and take the first turning left to Chittlehamholt. Highbullen is on the right just after the Chittlehamholt village sign.

From the North: head to either Umberleigh or South Molton and follow the routes above.
