See inside Lorraine's latest room renovation and the interior stylist behind its brand new look – plus advice on how you can steal the style
Following our grand reveal of Lorraine's Christmas cottage, we're back with a brand new makeover: her daughter Rosie's bedroom. We chatted to Lorraine and Wayfair.co.uk's resident style advisor, Nadia McCowan Hill, about how they put the look together.
What were your big ideas for the makeover?
Image: Avrika two-door wardrobe, £399; velvet tub chair, £379.99; Madison CreamBlack rug, from £54.99, all Wayfair
Lorraine: I really wanted this to be a welcoming room for Rosie when she came home from Singapore. It had to be stylish with lots of storage space and somewhere she would feel happy to spend her time. The furniture in this room was looking quite tired before and there were so many soft toys! I think it had been a little neglected but now it is completely transformed and I love how bright, modern and elegant it looks.
Nadia: To achieve this look, Wayfair’s team of stylists opted for a base palette of fresh ice-cream pastels which have been offset with deeper hues such as midnight blue and matte black. For the hero furniture pieces we opted for a mix of classic wooden styles that Lorraine is drawn to, but which are cleverly modernized by Scandi-style shaping.
How did you accessorise the look?
Shansi sheepskin rug, £90.99; Edaoura chevron cushion, £24.99; knitted pouffe, £39.99, all Wayfair
Nadia: Lorraine really emphasized “comfort is key” when we kicked off the design concept, so we placed cosy textiles at the heart of this look. We mixed chunky layered throws with textured scatter cushions and shaggy sheepskin throws to take Rosie all the way through from winter to spring.
Does the room reflect Rosie's own style?
Elementary dining chair, £169.98 for two; Mirabelle desk, £104.99; Morehead three-piece glass box set, £58.99, all Wayfair
Lorraine: Rosie is very stylish and she has always loved fashion and design. She was involved with the makeover from the start and is over the moon with the end result – she couldn’t believe the huge selection of lovely products she could choose from on Wayfair! I personally love the colours (which are a bit like a Neapolitan ice cream!) and the clever use of space. It’s cheeky, yet elegant, which is exactly Rosie’s style. The wardrobe is full of extra clothes that she doesn't need in Singapore but will be invaluable whenever she is home.
Nadia: To allow Rosie to work from home, the room features a petite desk, embellished with decorative storage boxes and quirky metallic ‘thought bubble’ stickers. Positioned next to a bright window, this area also doubles up as the perfect spot for Rosie to do her make up each morning. To personalize the room further we have adorned the blush pink walls with various prints which reflect Rosie’s distinct personality, including illustrative quotes from her favourite TV show, Sex and the City and tropical wall art to act as reminders of her distant travels.
