Although it may not feel like it, autumn/winter 2018 is just around the corner, and next season has an exciting, eclectic mix of design styles to offer for those looking to refresh their home.

Get ahead of the curve with our reveal of the hottest interior design styles and decor trends for the coming season.

Cosy midnight blues hues

If you're planning a seasonal makeover for your bedroom or living room this autumn/winter, blue is probably off your colour chart radar. Typically, the cold feeling icy blues can bring to room can be off-putting in cooler months, but what if we told you deeper shades can create a cosy, calming and warming effect?

Rich midnight blues and sumptuous navys offset with gold accents are set to take over from toasty terracotta hues for AW18, creating a look that's modern and luxurious. When updating your bedroom, opt for opulent textured sheets in sapphire, perfect to snuggle under.

Nordic winter chic

Scandi-style remains a strong and stylish trend, transitioning its way from warm summer months into the dark depths of winter. Traditionally, Scandinavian winters are long and dreary, meaning as much light as possible is needed to brighten homes, and plenty of snug soft furnishings add extra warmth.

Banish your winter blues with a blend of Nordic styles by utilising space and light and including natural elements such as wooden chairs, wicker baskets in a clean, neutral decorating scheme. Add cosy touches with soft, plush throws and shagpile rugs in chocolate brown or charcoal grey, and create a little hygge fireside with scented candles and plush throws.

Introduce the wellness trend with eucalyptus

The idea of creating a healthy, happy and mindful home has risen in popularity over the course of 2018, and it's set to continue into the latter end of 2018. Known for its relaxation and health benefits, eucalyptus is used in health spas to destress and calm clientele, and as we move into the months of winter bugs, we can expect to see the plant make a welcomed appearance.

Embrace the botanical health trend by purchasing your very own mini, potted eucalyptus tree which can be displayed decoratively amongst other house plants - or keep an eye-out for eucalyptus leaf printed bedsheets and cushion covers.

Embrace agate accessories

Following healthy and happy home trend, the introduction of agate - an aura cleansing crystal - in interiors was imminent. This autumn/winter is all about healing yourself, starting at home, and what better way to do this than with naturally unique homeware, believed to soothe and heal.

If you're looking to freshen up your scheme, choose interesting bookends, cushion covers and back splashes in the rock's bright purples, greens and blues.

70s-style terrazzo touches

This AW18, we're continuing to see a terrazzo retro revival; the original sustainable material made from stone offcuts and unlimited in its colours and uses. Making its way back into our homes this year, you'll continue to see the look on everything from bedding and ornaments, to flooring and wallpaper.

Noit only is the material oozing 70s charm but it also effectively retains warmth from underfloor heating - perfect for the winter months.

Inject glam with dark wood furniture

While the '70s look is enduring for AW18 interiors, '80s-style is about to have a big moment too. Think dark oak furniture teamed with gold finishes for the ultimate lavish look.

Get the look by dressing dark wood coffee tables and cabinets with gold lamps, emerald vases and a retro clock.
