Tessa and Elliott wanted to extend the dining room of their Victorian terrace to create a spacious kitchen-diner with doors leading into the garden. They created a colourful and versatile space that works perfectly for their family.

Tessa and Elliott have added interest to their plywood kitchen with a patterned, tiled splashback. Plywood can be quite a flat material so it was important for the couple to add a sense of fun to their kitchen/dining space.

Moveable island

The couple liked the idea of an island, but wanted one that could be moved around. Sustainable Kitchens supplied their amazing plywood cabinetry, and also made an island on castors, which can be wheeled away to create more space.

Reading nook

Creating a reading nook in the corner of the room meant there was an area to chill and relax whilst dinner was being cooked or for entertaining purposes. The couple decided to zone off this area with a rainbow striped rug to inject warmth and colour to the space.

Reclaimed dining

The couple came across their zinc dining table by chance in The Bed Workshop in Bristol. Restored in Brittany, France, it started life as a school table and now makes for the perfect space to entertain friends and family. The floor-to-ceiling Crittall windows makes the garden feel a part of the indoor space, helping it feel even bigger.
