Decorate your dining room with sunny shades
February 28, 2017
Decorate your dining room with shades of bright buttercup, retro prints and mid-century-inspired wooden furniture.
Love this Dining Room
- Using lots of plants, both real and artifi cial, is a great way to prevent a large amount of colour from becoming too over powering.
- Accessories with gloss finishes, such as pendant lights and vases, help bounce light around the room, making it feel more spacious.
- Continue light-timber flooring planks up to dado-rail height, blurring the space of the floor.
- Break up vibrant hues by introducing dark-wood furniture via a statement sideboard.
- Show off glassware and store dining essentials in an open-front bookcase. Add wallpaper to the backs of shelves to create a display piece.
Styling Tip
Adding a vibrant rug that complements the shape of the table zones the eating area and reduces the amount of flooring on show, bringing the focus to the middle of the room.
Retro Print
Sixties-inspired wallpaper is a striking backdrop for stark ceramics.

Rustic Style
Layer tableware in contrasting textures – combine smooth ceramics with tactile placemats.
Sleek Scandi
Add interest to a corner with blocks of warming colours, faux plants and retro furniture in rattan.
